Weekly Programs

Sandwich Program

Each week on Tuesday, Faith Church delivers 60 sandwiches to the Humility of Mary in Davenport.  Church members volunteer for a month at a time to purchase the bread and prepare the sandwiches.  Members donate the bologna, cheese, and sandwich baggies.  Some may also donate money which is put in a Sandwich Fund.  This money is used to purchase items as needed.

These Sandwiches have been delivered every week since 1991.

Cookies for the Blood Bank

We began providing cookies that are taken weekly to the Blood Bank in 2019.  Members sign up for a week and bring in 4-6 dozen cookies.

Little Dresses for Africa

This program is a national program that we supply dresses to.  A sewing group meets at Faith every Friday afternoon to sew these dresses.

Donations are always appreciated.  The following items are used most often:

  • 1/4 inch elastic
  • double fold bias tape, any color
  • rickrack, large or jumbo size
  • buttons for decoration, 3/4in. or larger
  • fabric, prefer sturdy 100% cottons
  • percale sheets or pillowcases
  • thread, any color (no wooden spools)
  • monetary donations to offset shipping costs

Please contact the church office if you have any donations.

Monthly Programs

Food Pantry

Faith Church members regularly donate canned goods and non-perishable food items which we deliver to the Churches United Food Pantry.

EICC Student Success Store

Members make donations of diapers, feminine products, school supplies, and clothing that the students can purchase with points.  We also give, annually, the backpacks that we collect during July and August.

Share A Meal

On any month with five Tuesdays or Fridays, Faith Church volunteers serve meals to families at the Churches United Meal Site.  Members of the congregation contribute food items, cook the food in their home or at church, deliver the food to the Zion Lutheran Meal Site, offer a mealtime prayer and serve any who have come to receive the meal.  We served 598 men, women and children in 2019 with an average of 75 each month.

Any food that is left over goes to Winnie’s Place or the Humility of Mary Shelter.

Annual Programs

Mitten Tree

Every November and December we collect mittens and scarves for children and youth and give them to the EICC Student Success Store.

CROP Hunger Walk

The CROP Hunger Walk is sponsored by Church World Service.  Funds raised provide food, medical care, disaster relief, and self-help development across the globe.  25% of funds raised locally in the Quad Cities are distributed to River Bend Foodbank, Christian Care, Rock Island, Humility Homes and Services, Davenport, Meal Service of Scott Country, and Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program, Scott County.

Faith youth and adults participate in this program each year.  The walk is normally held in October.

Christmas Caroling

On the 3rd Sunday in December members meet at the church to go Christmas Caroling.  Each family brings a pot of chili which is all combined to make the “best chili ever”.  After caroling to our shut-ins, the group made up of youth and adults, meet back at the church for a chili supper.
