Back in April we were notified of the service project at this year’s General Synod to be held in Indianapolis June 28 through July 4th. If we raised $250, we could apply for a $250 UCC kits matching grant. We raised $350, applied and received the grant.
Each kit contained two 2 oz. bottles hand sanitizer, three 4-galon bathroom trash bags, one travel pack of Wet ones, ten unscented tampons ( 5 regular and 5 super), ten unscented sanitary napkins, one bath size bar of soap, one pack of flushable wipes, and six laundry detergent sheets.
Several ladies from the church got together on June 28th and put together 57 kits! Once they were completed, we delivered them to a delegate from another church in our area who took them to Indy.
UCC surpassed their 1,000 goal and 3,157 kits were put together!
We gathered today to make cookies…lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of cookies!!
is filled with joy!
We held our first All Ages Bible School on Sunday afternoon, July 24 from 4-6pm.
First Christian and Faith UCC put on the event. It is the first of 3 Sunday events. The next two are on August 14 and September 18.
Several activity stations were set up for all to enjoy. A light meal was served following the activities.
This event was originally scheduled for March 29. Then, due to COVID19 it was postponed and scheduled again for May 3rd. Postponed once again until July 26th. We had 30 registrations for the original event — due to conflicts with the new date and social distancing concerns several decided not to attend.
However, the 15 who did show had a great time. Instead of a buffet lunch, we served sack lunches and guests were encouraged to bring their own beverages.
